Making Lavender Essential Oil at Home

Creating your own lavender essential oil is both fun and rewarding. Here’s a simple method to get you started:

What You'll Need:

  • Fresh or dried lavender flowers

  • Carrier oil (such as olive oil or almond oil)

  • A jar with a tight lid

  • A strainer or cheesecloth

  • A dark glass bottle for storage

Instructions:

  1. Harvest Your Lavender: If you’re using fresh lavender, cut the flowers early in the morning when their essential oils are most potent. If you’re using dried lavender, make sure it’s high quality.

  2. Fill Your Jar: Place the lavender flowers in your jar, filling it about ¾ of the way.

  3. Add Carrier Oil: Pour your chosen carrier oil over the lavender until it’s completely submerged.

  4. Seal and Store: Tightly seal the jar and place it in a warm, sunny spot. Let it sit for 2-4 weeks, shaking it gently every few days to help release the oils.

  5. Strain the Oil: After a few weeks, strain the oil using a strainer or cheesecloth to remove the flowers. Pour the strained oil into a dark glass bottle to protect it from light.

You can also use a terra shield premade spray and add in the above oils to that.
